Redi Flash Kits are mounted to your wall studs above the splash walls of your Tile Redi Shower Base in order to create a waterproof seam between the shower base and the cement board walls.
Tile Redi Shower Bases have an integrated 6 inch splash wall that extends from the pan. The 6 inch splash is 2" wide, which will accept a 1/2" thick cement board for your walls. The Tile Redi Shower Bases are completely waterproof, however the seam between the cement board and the Tile Redi Base isn't protected in any way unless the Tile Redi Flash Kit is installed. The last thing that you'd want is a seam that leaks water...that seems to defeat the purpose of having a water-tight shower assembly.
